Zoe was surrendered by her elderly owner to a shelter. Judging by her severely weight-loss, it could be assumed it was a case of either the couple got to eat or Zoe did. A Good Samaritan picked her up and brought her to Bluegrass after taking her to a vet. Other than the weightloss and minor issues like an ear infection, Zoe is in good shape for her age--all organ systems seem to be working fine. She does have severe dental issues, however, so she will be getting a thorough cleaning to get that fixed. She is a petite basset anyway, so even with a good 8-10 pounds put back on she won't be very large at all. She is housebroken and basically sleeps all the time, although she does seem to enjoy exporing her foster home's many rooms.
While we really don't anticipate anyone actually wanting to adopt her, you should know that seniors are wonderful companions and clearly all this one needs is a warm place to sleep and a full belly and she'll be happy for whatever years she has left. If you can't adopt, perhaps sponsoring Zoe for a few dollars a month could be an option.

Special Needs: Zoe is a senior at 13 years old. She just had a dental (they pulled 9 rotted teeth!) thanks to some very generous donors and is on her way to living out her golden years...
